This unit aims to prepare learners with an insight into the concept of supply chain operations; It also introduces the essential knowledge and skills which are significant in every part of the Logistics environment. This unit will prepare learners for work in the logistics environment by developing knowledge, skill and practical experience to meet the demands of organisations in the UAE.

LSA 101 Supervise and monitor storage operations (2-2-4)

This unit aims to provide learners with the application skills required to supervise and monitor storage operations in accordance with standard operating procedures. Learners will identify storage requirements, safety and security of storage while monitoring the storage operations.

LSA 102 Monitor procurement and supply operations (2-2-4)

This unit equips learners to monitor procurement and supply operations in logistics environments. It covers key processes such as sourcing, writing specifications, evaluating proposals, and using INCOTERMS. Learners explore value-adding techniques—ensuring quality, cost-efficiency, and timely delivery—and examine e-procurement tools. Practical application in real or simulated settings reinforces skills in teamwork, data use, and standard procedures.

LSA 103 Perform ports and shipping operations (2-2-4)

This course provides learners with essential knowledge and practical skills in maritime port and shipping operations. Topics include port functions, container management, vessel types, shipping methods, and the economic and regulatory factors influencing shipping. Learners will gain hands-on experience with industry practices and develop competencies in communication, teamwork, and data analysis relevant to logistics and transport sectors.

LSA 104 Use effective business communications (2-2-4)

This course develops learners’ knowledge and skills in effective business communication. Learners will assess the fundamentals of successful communication, deliver effective messages across diverse contexts, create impactful business presentations, and prepare clear reports and proposals. The course emphasizes practical communication strategies, cultural awareness, and the use of modern communication tools, equipping learners to communicate professionally and confidently in workplace settings.

LSA 105 Develop knowledge of supplier operations (1-2-3)

This course equips learners with key knowledge and skills to manage procurement and supply operations. Topics include techniques to add value in procurement, stages of the sourcing process, evaluating supplier offers, and the use of technology in procurement. Learners will develop competencies in communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and data analysis relevant to logistics and supply chain operations.

LSA 106 Monitor inventory operations (2-4-6)

This course equips learners with essential knowledge and skills to monitor and control inventory operations in logistics environments. Learners will classify inventory types, apply monitoring and control techniques, calculate inventory costs, and perform stock reconciliation. Emphasis is placed on ensuring inventory availability to meet organizational goals, using methods like Pareto analysis, ABC classification, MRP, JIT, and vendor-managed inventory. The course prepares students to apply best practices in real-world warehouse and logistics contexts.
