These skills are applied to students’ academic, personal, and future professional lives.

LSS 1123 Basic Research Methods (2-2-3)

Introduces students to the process of scientific inquiry through applied research based on the scientific method and focusing on the mechanics of quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and reporting.

LSS 1133 AI Literacy and Critical Inquiry (2-2-3)

Introduces students to the appropriate use of AI in academic contexts and the application of AI as a tool in their projects. A project focus is on the process of scientific inquiry through applied research based on the scientific method, including the mechanics of data collection, analysis, and reporting. Through an applied research project, students will reflect on the barriers to their own critical thinking and apply that to AI sources, texts and data in the research process. Students will evaluate ideas and arguments, and prepare and defend their own valid arguments in a research project.
