MPN 3003 AR/VR in Graphic Design and Video Production (2-2-3)
In this course, students will explore the developing field of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) in the context of graphic design and video production. They will gain a solid understanding of the principles and technologies in AR, VR and XR including hardware and software components. Students will apply knowledge through practice-based projects, including creating AR-enhanced graphics, VR videos, and interactive experiences.

MPN 3503 Advanced Media Production (2-2-3)
This course builds upon the foundational knowledge and skills acquired in the Media Production course. Advanced Production develops students skills in different genres of video production, such as location-based production, multi-camera shooting, live events, and management. This course is designed to equip students with the expertise needed to design and produce high-quality video content, web content, and advertising that captivates and informs audiences across diverse media platforms.
MPN 3513 Sound Design (2-2-3)
This course introduces students to the complexities of sound design, recording, editing, mixing, and manipulation in order to shape and evoke emotions through the power of sound. In this course, students will acquire basic skills in audio recording and manipulation, as well as develop a sound design for an audio experience that can be used in a video, film, video game, theatre performance, or multimedia installation.
MPN 3523 3D Modeling and Animation (2-2-3)
This course provides an applied introduction to the fundamental principles and hands-on applications of modeling, animating, texturing, lighting, rendering, and crafting 3D assets. It is meticulously designed to cater to those interested in creating content for gaming, cinematic production, visual effects, animation, and immersive visualizations.

MPN 3533 Motion Media Design Techniques II (2-2-3)
Motion Media Design Techniques II will build upon Motion Media Design Techniques I. The course will incorporate advanced 3D animation, advanced compositing, motion tracking, and visual effects. This course will challenge students to excel in advanced design and graphic storytelling, creating industry-focused content for precise communication.

MPN 4703 Concept and Visualization (2-2-3)
This course builds on the fundamentals of conceptual development and storytelling and explores the intricate art of crafting compelling digital media narratives that engage, inspire, and resonate with diverse audiences. As part of this course, students will explore concept presentation and advanced storytelling techniques across a variety of media, from literature, design, branded content to digital media. They will also elevate their narrative expertise to a professional level in a chosen professional field to meet a client brief from industry.

MPN 4716 Industry I (1-20-6)
In this course students will collaborate with industry partners, gain practical experience, and develop a comprehensive understanding of the complexities and challenges of the digital media industry in this course.

MPN 4733 New Media Narratives (2-4-3)
In this course, students will break from the conventions of traditional modes of visual storytelling to explore short-form, web-based, interactive, and digital-media creation methods. The primary focus will be on the formats of web production, music videos, commercial content, and short advertising-branded films. In addition, the course will also explore the innovative ways these formats have diverged and grown from the more conventional approaches to visual storytelling.
MPN 4743 Capstone I (2-2-3)
The purpose of this course is for students to explore innovative ideas through comprehensive research and the creation of a short video project and a demo reel. Students will develop project management, communication, and creative problem-solving skills essential in the media and communication industry. Through faculty-supervised project milestones, students are evaluated on their ability to apply tools, communicate effectively, and present effectively. This course culminates with a presentation of a proposal, a plan for a final short video project and a professional demo reel.

MPN 4816 Industry II (1-20-6)
Students in the apprenticeship program gain practical experience and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the digital media industry through collaboration with industry partners, media relations, visual communication, crisis management, and legal considerations. Students will apply their knowledge of digital media practices to industry-specific situations during this foundational year.

MPN 4833 Advanced Post-Production (2-2-3)
In this course, students will develop advanced skills in post-production techniques, including advanced editing and effects techniques that shape the style, mood, and pace of visual content. During this course, students will gain experience in asset management, video nesting, transition creation, compositing, effects, and timeline organization. Finally, students will discuss the critical aspects of precise audio integration for effective visual communication and apply these techniques to a project.
MPN 4843 Capstone II (2-2-3)
As a continuation of Capstone Video Project I, Capstone II will begin the production and post-production phases of their project, developing and implementing their proposed plan. Students will demonstrate skills in conceptual design, pre-production, cinematography, editing, design, and entrepreneurship, as well as communication and teamwork skills. These skills will also be assessed by their peers and industry professionals. An industry-standard video project is created in the course to demonstrate the student's video production skills.
