EPC - Practicum for Education
EPC 1903 Practicum 1 (2-2-3)
This course introduces foundational teaching competencies within the Emerging Teaching phase of the program. It prepares students to engage in authentic learning environments, build positive relationships with children and teachers, and understand professional roles, responsibilities, and ethics. Students observe, plan, and reflect on theories and strategies learned in related courses. Through a campus-based simulation practicum in the Education Learning Hub and visits to early childhood settings, they gain meaningful insight into classroom practice under the guidance of experienced mentors.
EPC 2903 Practicum 2 (2-2-3)
This campus-based simulated practicum develops competencies in the Emerging Teaching phase of the program. It provides opportunities for student teachers to engage in authentic learning within education hubs, building relationships with children, families, and educators. The course emphasizes observation and reflection on diverse UAE school curricula and their implications for early years teaching. Through guided supervision, student teachers strengthen professional identity, work ethics, and understanding of effective classroom practices, preparing them for future practicum experiences.

EPC 3403 Practicum 3a (2-2-3)
This course develops students’ competencies in the Sustained Teaching phase through active engagement in diverse early childhood classrooms. It strengthens professional practice as students plan, implement, and manage meaningful learning experiences while applying effective behavior management and assessment strategies. The course fosters reflective and evidence-based practice to enhance teaching effectiveness and align with key dispositions of professionalism, planning, classroom management, implementation, assessment, and reflection under mentor supervision in authentic learning settings.

EPC 3903 Practicum 3b (2-2-3)
This course consolidates teaching competencies through the Sustained Teaching phase of the program. It provides opportunities for student teachers to assume extended responsibilities in early childhood classrooms, demonstrating professionalism, ethics, and effective instructional practices. The course fosters advanced reflective and evaluative skills, enabling students to analyze teaching impact and refine classroom strategies. Building on prior coursework, it integrates differentiated instruction, assessment, and collaboration. Student teachers complete a practicum in early childhood settings

EPC 4403 Practicum 4a (2-2-3)
This course extends teaching competencies through the Autonomous Teaching phase of the program. It enables student teachers to refine and personalize their teaching style, demonstrating independence, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity. Emphasis is placed on implementing integrated plans, ensuring emotional safety, and engaging learners through effective strategies and questioning. Practicum experiences in early childhood settings allow student teachers to apply theory to practice while collaborating with stakeholders under the guidance of both Mentor School and Mentor College Teachers.

EPC 4906 Practicum 4b (Internship) (2-2-6)
This final practicum refines and extends student teachers’ competencies through the Autonomous Teaching phase of the program. It emphasizes integrity, adaptability, and professionalism, preparing students to assume full teaching responsibilities in early childhood settings. The course strengthens their ability to plan, assess, and communicate with stakeholders while modeling an effective presence. Under the joint supervision of a mentor school teacher and college mentor, student teachers engage in sustained professional practice to support their growth and readiness for teaching profession.
